Kudos to the regional government that administered a budget of whooping 300,000,000 Indonesian Rupiah (£17,000) to the village to grant it a makeover. A major part of the manpower was employed by ‘The Indonesian Builders Association’ to assist in generating the aesthetic facade, that left everyone awestruck.
Everyone joined hands to bring out this startling effect of the village. The mayor of nearby Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi, engrossed himself in the act and painted some of the houses himself. A sincere attempt by each and every individual brought out the fruitful outcome to make the town look so damn bright and colourful.

Formerly recognized as a slum, the government put their head together to provide it with an extreme makeover to generate employment opportunities to its inhabitants, the two hundred and thirty two houses were stained in a vibrant palette.

The town on the hillside, overlooking a polluted river hitherto was a low income generating locality, with a filthy and gloomy vicinity. The initiative to refurbish the locality proved lucrative to all. The new looking town has been flocked by the tourists, swelling employment opportunities of the locals and reaping the benefits are native flower sellers, caterers, transportation and hotels.
The brain behind this evolutionary thinking is of a native, fifty-four year old headmaster, Slamet Widodo, who was inspired from other transformed areas like Kampung Warna-warni and Kampung Tridi in Malang and Kampung Kali Code in Yogyakarta.
