Even the most mundane roads become the most pleasurable when you have someone special to hold your hand, the wildest forests can be fun when you have your friends along and the most boring places can be the most delightful when you have your family with you! Yet there is something exotic about travelling the peaceful roads alone, something mesmerizing about the places traveled alone and if you haven’t experienced it yet then this will surely compel you to plan a solo trip while you are young.
While you might be a little afraid to travel solo trust me, a solo trip is easier and lot more exciting than you might think, totally liberating, and completely rewarding in a way few other experiences in life can match. It can be a life-changing experience for you since you get a lot of time to introspect and understand your deepest desires. If you are taking a solo trip for the first time then I would strictly recommend you to do some research, prepare well and be confident.
A solo trip also teaches you to come out of your comfort zone, make new friends instead of travelling with the same friends all the time, and now when you visit even the places you have seen before you will feel different in many ways.
If you still have doubts as to why you should take the risk to travel alone then read on and thank me later 🙂
Trip planning becomes a lot easier
This is the time to give preference to your own bucket list of places you always wanted to visit but have been holding back because you had to be considerate towards other companions. You can plan the trip as per your own will and desire and you can even make changes at the last moment. You can explore the places of your interest and be free to roam around as much as you like.
One tends to be ignorant towards one’s own inner voice because the hustle bustle of city life keeps one too busy to spend some time alone. Solo trip gives you a chance to give some time to your own self, think about your desires and meditate upon them. You develop new interests, polish the ones you already have and change your perspective towards life. It is very much like a soul purifying activity.
This is the perfect time to recharge your system and return back with more energy. Bhutan is my most favorite place for a solo trip and I love the serene air and picturesque surroundings. Just perfect to roam around, get lost, meditate and recover.
It is Empowering
You might face a lot of challenges and obstacles in your trip and yet you will love them all, you will flaunt them just as a warrior wears his scars with proud. Solo trips make you more confident and self-dependent. You learn to manage in the most unfavorable situations and it gives you the confidence to face any difficulty in life. The more nervous you feel while kicking off a solo trip the more victorious you would be when you come back.
Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
For those who love to take their partner along, I wish to say that this distance will surely make your heart grow fonder. You will feel more love for them and vice-versa. It will make both of you nicer and more affectionate towards each other. When you come back after this trip it will be a real home-coming experience for you with your partner waiting at the doorstep.
Remember how you feel when you want to try out an adventure sport but others resists you? This is the time to do all that you want to do without having to convince anyone. You can engage in adventure activities, explore the least traveled roads, get lost in the woods and nobody will force you to do something that you do not like. Sounds exciting?
You Become a Better Traveler
Traveling alone also means planning everything all by yourself and that is what makes you a better traveler. You learn from your experiences and become more confident when you travel all alone. You learn what to do and what not to do. You become more observant and get a better understanding of your surroundings, you make new friends, try out new things, visit new places and finally you find a “new you”.
Find Those Answers
Whenever I travel alone, I always find answers to most important questions in my life, questions which remain unanswered in the confused, chaotic mind find the best answers when guided by my soul. For some it could be something related to business, for some it could be career or studies or about one’s personal life.
All these answers rest within us, we just have to give some time and think deeper which is next to impossible when surrounded by people. Voices from outside tend to mislead most of the time and that is when we need to listen to the inner voice and trust it.
Bring that Artist Out
One thing I like the most about a solo trip is that it helps me spare some time for my art. Landscapes become a beautiful painting and the calm breeze on a beach is just perfect to write some poetry. Nature and art are closely related and one gets to understand this better on a solo trip.
The most precious poems of my life were written during my solo trips, the most magnificent paintings were inspired by the most exquisite beaches and the most appealing pictures were clicked in the remotest locations. These moments of loneliness will bring sheer joy to your life.
I hope this made you feel an urge to plan a trip alone. However, I also believe that if you want to do something, the thing itself becomes the strongest reason and you do not need anything more.
I am sure many of you must have traveled alone, share your experiences in the comment box below, you can be an inspiration for others too. After all we are all connected through travel!
