This is a short and sweet manual for first timers who are excited to explore Bhutan and wish to avoid those “classic first time mistakes” during your Bhutan tour. Also, we have listed a few tips and giveaways for you so that you know your destination a little bit better and can have an absolutely stress free Bhutan tour. Take note of these little pointers and you are good to go.

  • Best time to go for Bhutan tour- October - December ( Autumn), April- May (Spring)
  • Bhutan is a hiker's paradise. So, hikers and trekkers can explore a lot even on their own in the nearby surroundings.
  • Get a local sim card of you wish to stay connected. Roaming on your current service provider is not a sure thing
  • Bhutan doesn't sell tobacco and is prohibited in public places. So, better carry your own cigarettes and ask your guide for those particular private places where smoking is allowed. Smoking weed is prohibited.
  • Camping in Bhutan is possible if you are doing multi day hikes in the country and in remote regions. You get horses, a guide and a cook as well.
  • Dha is a common sport in Bhutan aka archery. You will be encouraged to try it as most towns have an archery field.
  • Indian Nationals don't need a visa to for Bhutan tour. Carry a valid passport or voter id card.
  • You won't have any language barriers as Bhutanese know English and Hindi quite well. Although, their local language is Dzongkha.
Itinerary

Day 1Paro Airport – Thimphu

(Distance: 65 kms. / Driving Time: 2 hrs. / Altitude of Thimphu: 2350 mts.)
Welcome to Bhutan tour. Meet & Greet on arrival at Paro Airport and get transferred to Thimphu (7,710 ft.), the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival, check in at the hotel.

In the evening, you are free to spend time at your leisure.

Day 2Thimphu – Wangdue – Punakha Excursion- Thimphu

(Distance: 77 kms. / Driving Time: 3 hrs. / Altitude of Punakha: 1310 mts.)
After breakfast, drive to Wangdue, On the way Stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.). to view the higher Himalayas. Wangdu is the last town on the highway before entering Central Bhutan. The drive is over scenic Dochu La pass with great views of the mountains.

Once there, we will visit Punakha Dzong. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo and King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952.

After that, take a short excursion trip to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang – The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Evening drive back to Thimphu. Overnight in Thimphu

Day 3Thimphu-Paro- Thimphu Sightseeing

After breakfast, we will go for Thimphu sightseeing. Today’s itinerary covers-

Memorial Chorten, Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodong),Changangkha Lhakhang (Monastery), Motithang Takin Preservation Centre, Drupthob Goemba / Zilukha Nunnery, National Library), Institute for Zorig Chusum (Traditional Art & Craft School-Closed on Saturday , Sunday, National Holiday & During Summer & Winter Vacations), Textiles Museum, Zangthopelri Lhakhang (Monastery)

Evening is free for leisure. Later, transfer to Paro. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 4Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, go for Paro sightseeing. Today’s itinerary includes-

Drukgyel Dzong (currently closed for tourists), Ta Dzong (National Museum- Closed on Saturday, Sunday & National Holiday), Rinpung Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang (Monastery),Back to the hotel. Overnight at hotel in Paro.

Full day Hike to Taktsang Lhakhang ( Tiger’s nest)
Begin the day early for a full day hike to Taktsang Lhakhang (Tiger’s Nest Monastery) -This trek all the way uphill takes about 2 /3 hours – one way through pine forests. Return and go out in the afternoon to the market for shopping and leisure. Overnight at the hotel

Day 5Paro Onward Flight

After breakfast, get transferred to Paro Airport for your onward flight. Your Bhutan tour ends here today. Depart with sweet memories.

This Rate is based on 10 pax tour.

There may be certain surcharges applicable at the time of booking. All above rates are subject to availability at the time of confirmation and can be changed without prior notice

Actual ROE is charged at the time of confirmation.

All tours are subject to weather conditions and will operate only if weather permits, no refund will be given if services are not operated due to weather or natural problems.

Please make sure you follow the timings given by the driver and guide for all the services and transfers. In case you fail to follow the timings, the Driver will leave for which no refund will be given.

Hotel and airline cancellations to be applied.

Hotels suggested in the itinerary can be changed and will be equivalent or more to the one given to you in terms of price as per the official rate sheet of the hotel.

Please note to take care of the visa processing and its time as we will not be responsible for any kind of delays or refusal of visa from the concerned consulate and the cancellation policy of the holiday will be applied.

The above tour cost is calculated as per the current taxes, visa charges and other charges as per the current date. Any change till the time of departure and any additional cost of such nature will have to be taken care by the client.
