This is a short and sweet manual for first timers who are excited to explore Bhutan and wish to avoid those “classic first time mistakes” during your Bhutan travel. Also, we have listed a few tips and giveaways for you so that you know your destination a little bit better and can have an absolutely stress free Bhutan travel. Take note of these little pointers and you are good to go.

 

  • Best time for Bhutan travel- October - December ( Autumn), April- May (Spring)
  • Bhutan is a hiker's paradise. So, hikers and trekkers can explore a lot even on their own in the nearby surroundings.
  • Get a local sim card of you wish to stay connected. Roaming on your current service provider is not a sure thing
  • Bhutan doesn't sell tobacco and is prohibited in public places. So, better carry your own cigarettes and ask your guide for those particular private places where smoking is allowed. Smoking weed is prohibited.
  • Camping in Bhutan is possible if you are doing multi day hikes in the country and in remote regions. You get horses, a guide and a cook as well.
  • Dha is a common sport in Bhutan aka archery. You will be encouraged to try it as most towns have an archery field.
  • Indian Nationals don't need a visa to travel to Bhutan. Carry a valid passport or voter id card.
Itinerary

Day 1Welcome to Bhutan travel. Arrive at Paro Airport I Transfer to Thimphu I Thimphu Half Day Sightseeing

Pick-up from Paro airport & transfer (65 kms – 1.15 hrs drive) to Thimphu. Pari Airport is one of the smallest and beautiful airport, before landing one can have a breathtaking view of Himalayan ranges from the flight.

Check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit Tashichho dzong ( Outside view), National Memorial Chorten, Government-run Handicrafts Emporium and local crafts shops.

Day 2Thimphu Full Day Sightseeing

Thimphu is the only capital city of the world without any traffic signal. The traffic policeman stands at busy intersection to manage the traffic and all the vehicle mover so smooth and organizedly one can never believe that it doesn’t have a single traffic signal.
After breakfast visit to –

Takin Preserve – A wildlife reserve area for Takin, the national animal of Bhutan.
Buddha Point – One of the largest Buddha Statue in the world, at 169 feet (52 m) and contains 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall gilded bronze Buddhas.
BBS Tower – Amazing view of entire Thimphu City from here

● Simply Bhutan Museum

After lunch, visit to Changlimithang Stadium & Archery ground. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 3Thimphu to Punakha /Wangdue via Dochula pass

After permit ( Permit is not issued on Saturdays, Sundays & Govt holidays) drive (70 kms / 2.30 hrs) to Punakha/Wangdue, en route halt at Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters), the pass is a popular location among tourists as it offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Himalayan mountain range. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snow-capped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass.
Enroute visit Chimi Lakhang, Punakha Dzong and Suspension Bridge.
Overnight stay at Punakha/Wangdue.

Day 4Punakha to Paro I Paro Sightseeing

After breakfast, transfer to Paro & visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong which has a long and fascinating history. While getting back stop at. Later visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred shrines of the Kingdom and Tiger’s Nest View Point and Paro Brewery Factory. Return at hotel. Overnight stay at Paro

Day 5Day hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery / Taktsang Monastery

Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site, located approximately 10 km north of Paro town at an altitude of 3.120 meters. In order to arrive at the temple visitors must trek for around 2-3 hours through beautiful, shady pine forests. No trip to Bhutan would be complete without a visit to this remarkable world heritage site. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 6Hotel-Drop to Paro International Airport

Today, after breakfast, depart for the airport for your journey home. Your Bhutan travel tour ends here today. Depart with lovely memories.

This rate is based on 2 pax tour.

There may be certain surcharges applicable at the time of booking. All above rates are subject to availability at the time of confirmation and can be changed without prior notice

Actual ROE is charged at the time of confirmation.

All tours are subject to weather conditions and will operate only if weather permits, no refund will be given if services are not operated due to weather or natural problems.

Please make sure you follow the timings given by the driver and guide for all the services and transfers. In case you fail to follow the timings, the Driver will leave for which no refund will be given.

Hotels suggested in the itinerary can be changed and will be equivalent or more to the one given to you in terms of price as per the official rate sheet of the hotel.

Please note to take care of the visa processing and its time as we will not be responsible for any kind of delays or refusal of visa from the concerned consulate and the cancellation policy of the holiday will be applied.
