Get ready for an authentic Burmese experience to Mt. Popa about 30 miles (50km) from Bagan.
Enroute, stop to see skillful toddy-palm climber collecting wine on top of the tree, toddy palm juice & palm sugar (jaggery) making cottage. Taste this Burmese candy of Myanmar village life. By chance, you can see oil making from peanut and sesame seeds by rotating the cows to mortar and pestle in traditional way. This could bring in new perspective to your way of life.
Popa Taung Kalut is 2417ft (737m) standing apart from higher forested mountain, looks like a tower. The mountain was shaped out of a volcano that may have erupted some 250000 years ago. The 25 minutes climb is quite steep and stiff. It gets cooler as you get higher and views are fantastic.
Then return to Bagan and relax during the rest of the day.
